Once again it is that time of the year for some of the best golf on the planet. The Masters tournament begins today as a field of 97 golfers begin their quest for the infamous green jacket and all of the glory that comes along with it.
Last year the Australian Adam Scott won as he faced off against previous Masters winner Angel Cabrera in a sudden death. With the opportunity to win and in fading light, Scott sank his 15-foot birdie putt for the victory. It was Scott's first major championship and the only time an Australian has won the Masters.
This year the feild is as competitive as ever. Major players including Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose all look to dethrone Scott and take home the glory. Many are speculating that the 2014 Masters Tournament is the most wide open field in years. With tremendous competition there is no telling who might win but of course we shall speculate..
Here are our top 3 picks:
#1. Adam Scott - Returning champion and number one ranked player in the world. He has overcome the challenge of winning his first major and with his calm collected state he is poised to perform well and defend his title.
#2. Phil Mickelson - Experienced, talented and with the temperament of a winner he is always a threat every time he steps on the course. He hasn't had a big win in 2014 yet but big tournaments tend to bring out the best in Phil. It will be exciting to see how he performs.
#3. Bubba Watson - A past Masters winner knows the tournament and familiar with the pressure. Maintaining composure in this tournament is going to be key to victory. He has been playing well this year and ranked 12th in the PGA Official Tour Ranking.
Even with the absence of Tiger Woods, the competition this year us fierce. The stakes are high and it promises to be another exciting year at Augusta National.
